From Tunnel Engineer to Knife Maker

Before becoming a full-time knife maker, Zeng studied Civil Engineering and began making handmade fixed blades at university, driven by an obsession with knives, mechanics, and steel.

After graduation, he joined one of China’s largest state-owned railway systems as a tunnel engineer — a position reserved for top engineering talent.Even then, knife making continued at night and on weekends, never becoming just a hobby.

Over time, he quietly developed deep hands-on skills in hand satin grinding, mirror polishing, handle contouring, inlay work, and other traditional finishing techniques.

Eventually, he left a stable and respected engineering career to pursue knife making full time — a decision widely seen as reckless, but driven purely by passion.

The profiles are broad. The surfaces have bite. The construction feels physical, mechanical, and ready for work. But the closer it gets to the hand, the more the details start to speak: a softened edge where comfort matters, a grind line held clean, a hand-weathered surface with unrepeatable texture, an action tuned for total addiction.

That contrast is where the brand lives. HexClaw has weight without clumsiness, force without carelessness, and detail without becoming precious. It is built to feel substantial — then finished to prove someone was paying attention.

Built Heavy, Finished Precise

Custom-Maker Thinking, High-end Production Execution

As the brand evolved, Zeng moved deeper into high-end production models, combining original design with strong OEM manufacturing and modern machining capability.

But HexClaw does not treat production knives as anonymous factory products. The approach is closer to custom-maker thinking applied at production scale:

strong structure, satisfying action, character-rich finishing, and the maker’s judgment behind the final result.

Depending on the model, HexClaw pieces may feature hand-applied satin finishes, surface distressing, copper or silver inlays, and individualized steel stamps.

Zeng is not designing from a screen alone. As an outdoor user himself, he builds around the parts of a knife that matter once it leaves the tray: structural strength, lock stability, grip security, edge confidence, balance, tactile feedback, and long-term durability.

HexClaw knives may look bold and oversized at first glance, but the engineering behind them is deliberate. They are built to feel solid without feeling careless, rugged without losing control, and powerful without sacrificing mechanical precision.

They photograph well, but they are not only made for photos. They are made to be handled, carried, used, and trusted.

Designed Outside the Display Case

The Quiet Side of HexClaw

Despite the growth of the production line, Zeng continues to produce handmade slipjoint pocket knives in extremely limited numbers. These pieces reveal a quieter side of HexClaw — less aggressive, more traditional, but just as demanding. A good slipjoint leaves little room to hide. Walk-and-talk, spring tension, blade seating, pull weight, surface finishing, and balance all have to be right.

Where the larger HexClaw designs show industrial force, the slipjoints show control. For many collectors, they represent the purest expression of the brand: real usability, mechanical honesty, and handmade detail in a timeless form.

Industrial Muscle, Handmade Pulse

HexClaw stands apart because it does not choose between strength and craft.

It is industrial without being soulless. Handmade without being delicate. Rugged without being sloppy. Refined without becoming precious.

a tool with industrial muscle and a handmade pulse.

[Pre-Order] HexClaw BIG BISON Heavy-Duty Tactical Folding Knife Frame Lock
$389.99

Some folding knives are made for photos. The BIG BISON was made for work, while still look good on camera. It is for people who appreciate top-tier machining, premium materials, and knives that can take abuse without asking for permission first.

Overbuilt on Purpose, the BIG BISON uses a reinforced external stop-pin structure, oversized pivot assembly, and a tuned washer system to create a folding knife that feels absurdly solid in hand. The ergonomics are natural, secure, and confidence-inspiring — the kind of knife you pick up “just to check the action” and somehow still haven’t put down 20 minutes later.

It is a hard-use folding knife that feels equally at home in a display case, a workshop, or the middle of nowhere. It’s rugged, mechanical, comfortable in hand, and unapologetically overbuilt — exactly the way a serious working folder should be. This is also the smoothest, best-feeling knife in the maker’s lineup to date. Think “highest precision standard” meets “go ahead, use it hard.”

[Pre-Order] HexClaw ANTIDOTE V2 Semi-Custom Multifunctional EDC Tool Friction Folder & Pry
$279.99

Inspired by the humble military dog tag — then completely corrupted by EDC brain rot.

The Antidote V2 by Six Fingers is a semi-custom mechanical pocket piece built somewhere between utility knife, pocket jewelry, and tiny titanium obsession. Each one is individually hand-finished with worn-in distressing, scratch aging, and subtle heat-anodized titanium tones, giving every piece its own “found in an old toolbox after the apocalypse” personality. Work as a micro friction folder, a pry bar, and a bottle opener. What more could you possibly want?

The rotating friction-folder mechanism uses a crisp detent ball setup for that dangerously satisfying little click on open and close. Not a hard-use knife. Not trying to be. This thing exists for people who appreciate mechanical feel, tactile interaction, and beautifully unnecessary pocket objects.

The removable horseshoe shackle lets you run your own chain, bead setup, or lanyard configuration — turning it into a customizable dog-tag-inspired pocket artifact that hangs just as well as it carries.

Titanium handle and M390 blade. Available in two blade configurations:

  • A compact straight-edge cleaver profile

  • A Japanese-inspired Kiridashi style profile

HexClaw VENOM Semi-Custom Multifunctional EDC Tool Friction Folder & Pry
$279.99

This premium semi-custom detent ball friction knife takes its cues from classic military dog tags, then unapologetically levels up. Compact, discreet, and just a little rebellious, it’s built for those who appreciate clever engineering wrapped in bold personality.

The titanium handle keeps things featherlight yet tough as nails, with machining that feels as good as it looks. The detent ball friction mechanism delivers that satisfying, tactile interaction—no gimmicks, just pure mechanical charm. It’s the kind of piece you’ll find yourself flipping open absentmindedly, just because you can.

Up front, the blade means business: M390 steel with a DLC coating that’s as stealthy as it is durable. Razor edge, excellent wear resistance, and corrosion resistance to match—this isn’t just a pretty face, it’s a daily performer.

And because a piece like this deserves a proper home, it comes with a handmade leather case—rich, rugged, and perfectly matched to the knife’s character. Slip it in your pocket, clip it to your kit, or just admire it like the pocket-sized art it is.

Playful in concept, serious in execution—this little “tag” won’t help anyone identify you… but it will definitely make a statement.
